Who We Are
At Mariner Custom Guitars, we know you are the kind of person who has been stuck constantly searching for that next guitar, only to come up empty. After playing for so long now, you know that there is something you’re missing within your collection — the ideal guitar meant for you, from the start, which incorporates your own unique tone, look, and feel specifications into the design. It’s a shame though, that for an item so personal to the owner, most guitars on the market today come with so few options. Most manufacturers don’t allow their customers a say in their own guitar’s design, while at the same time, charge heavy premiums for any guitar that has been labelled “custom” — even if your modifications are not far off from the standard base model. As a collection of guitarists ourselves, we understand the frustration you feel, and we are here to help you live your dream of playing the guitar made for you.
Since our founding in 2015, we’ve believed that everyone should be able to design the exact guitar they have been searching for. We understand how difficult it can be to shop for a new guitar, and like you, sadly have also had to settle for what was available on the rack, only to still be dissatisfied in the end. If guitarists are constantly searching for the next sound, or their next iconic look, or a talking piece amongst their friends, then why haven’t manufacturers follow suite? This dilemma is why we ensure that we provide unique, high-quality yet affordable, electric guitars, entirely designed and customizable by our clients.
Our guitars were designed with inspirations from the classics, but were each given a complete modern transformation to achieve the level of customization we were looking to offer. To ensure our clients can obtain their desired tone, look, and feel, most of our offered customizations are centered on the neck, body, and electronics. We continually enhance our craft, and focus on the smallest details of what makes a great guitar — ultimately defining the difference between a guitar from a finely crafted instrument.
Each guitar is built in our continually optimized shop in upstate New York, where we select the finest materials and quality hardware, individually, for each guitar. This includes specialty tonewood species with different figuring (quilted, flame, etc.), and different grades — from paint grade to multiple “A” ratings for flawless finishes. Our assortment of available electronics can also be tailored to match any budget, while still providing superior tone. We enjoy familiarizing our clients with each detail and decision of their guitar, so when the time comes to deliver their instrument, their fulfillment, excitement, and satisfaction will be that much greater!
We would like to offer this same service to you, but for this process to begin, we’d need you to decide which body shape is correct for you. Next you would fill out an order form to provide all of the specific design specifications you would like, and we can begin the collaborative process between you and our luthier team to ensure you receive exactly what you are looking for. From there, we begin the build, involving you every step of the way, before your guitar finally, and carefully, arrives at your doorstep.
